Strong Limousin Trade at Stirling

A strong commercial demand for Limousin bulls, which saw averages rise slightly on the year, was the story behind a solid trade at the British Limousin Cattle Society’s Perth Bull Sale through United Auctions held at the newly completed Stirling Agricultural Centre on Monday 19th October 2009.

Topping the trade was the May 2008 born black Limousin bull, Goldies Black Denver, exhibited by Bruce Goldie, Townfoot Farm, Mouswald, Dumfries

Purchasing the next leading price, Millington Director, at 9,500gns was Swalesmoor Farms, Allerbeck Farm, Eaglesfield, Lockerbie, Dumfries. Exhibited by Millington Grange Estate, Cold Skin Farm, Millington, Yorkshire Millington Director was Senior Reserve Champion in the pre-sale Show judged by Mr Gary Swindlehurst, Procters Farms Ltd, Slaidburn, Lancs and another with a terrific Beef Value of LM+43. An embryo calf, he is by the French sire, Neuf and out of the Mas du Clo daughter, Superbe, whose mother is sired by Genial giving Millington Director muscle, growth and milkiness. This was the top price to date at Perth/Stirling for the Millington prefix which is well known in Scottish circles having previously exhibited the Highland Show Champion Millington Tangerine in 2006
